Mosa Press derives its name from the former Township of Mosa in southwestern Ontario, amalgamated in 2001 into the Municipality of Southwest Middlesex.
The township was called Mosa after the Spanish name for the Meuse River, which originates in France and flows through Belgium and the Netherlands into the North Sea. The name was chosen by the Lieutenant Governor of Upper Canada, Sir Peregrine Maitland, whose penchant for Spanish names may have derived from his service under Wellington in the Peninsular War.*
